Federal agents arrested 1,795 illegal immigrants in Alabama through March 10, putting the state on pace to surpass its record 2025 totals under President Donald Trump, according to newly released data from the Deportation Data Project.
The figure represents nearly a third of the 5,746 arrests logged in Alabama through mid-October of last year, itself roughly double the prior year’s pace, logged in just over two months.
More than half of those taken into custody this year had criminal histories: 281 were convicted criminals and another 657 faced pending criminal charges. ICE classified 891 of the arrests as targeted operations.
Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen weighed in on the enforcement surge Monday.
“Great work,” Allen posted. “This is what we voted for.”
Allen has been waging his own immigration fight. His office has spent the last two years working to identify noncitizens illegally registered to vote in Alabama — an effort that drew a Biden DOJ lawsuit in 2024 and ultimately flagged 186 noncitizens on the rolls, including 25 who cast ballots in prior elections.
Allen referred every case for prosecution. Last month, a Mexican national in Marion County was federally charged with voting in the 2022 and 2024 general elections.
