Alabama Farmers Federation announces ninth round of state legislative endorsements

The Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA) has rolled out its ninth string of endorsements for candidates seeking election to the state legislature.

The state’s largest agricultural advocacy organization utilizes its political action committee, FarmPAC, in making endorsements of candidates seeking public office.

The following candidates now hold an official endorsement from FarmPAC:

  • State Sen. Shay Shelnutt (R-Trussville)
  • State Sen. Billy Beasley (D-Clayton)
  • State Sen. Rodger Smitherman (D-Birmingham)
  • House Majority Leader Nathaniel Ledbetter (R-Rainsville)
  • State Rep. Ginny Shaver (R-Leesburg)
  • State Rep. David Standridge (R-Hayden)
  • State Rep. Corley Ellis (R-Columbiana)
  • State Rep. Rex Reynolds (R-Huntsville)

Additionally, ALFA announced its endorsement of businessman Patrick Johnson, who has mounted a Republican primary election challenge for House District 4 against State Rep. Parker Duncan Moore (R-Decatur).

The federation has also endorsed Republican James Lomax, who is seeking election to House District 20, a seat currently held by retiring State Rep. Howard Sanderford (R-Huntsville).

ALFA in October announced its first and second rounds of legislative endorsements, followed by its third, fourth and fifth strings of endorsements in November. In December, the federation rolled out its sixth, seventh and eighth rounds of endorsements.

The federation in September officially endorsed its preferred slate of candidates seeking election to federal and statewide offices.
