Alabama baseball makes Super Regionals, sits one step away from first trip to Omaha since 1999

The Alabama Crimson Tide baseball program is having its best season perhaps in decades after claiming the Tuscaloosa Regional with three straight victories to advance to the Super Regional where they will host for the first time since 2006.

After earning a national seed, it was Alabama State, South Carolina Upstate and Oklahoma State coming to Tuscaloosa to try to knock the Tide out, Alabama was able to handle the Hornets 21-3 on Friday before a tight 7-5 victory on Saturday over SC Upstate to get one win away.

On Sunday, Alabama rallied past Oklahoma State in 11 innings, with Brady Neal’s go-ahead home run sending the Crimson Tide to the next round.

Now, Alabama awaits its fate as to who the opponent will be in the Tuscaloosa Super Regional with either St. John’s or Florida State on deck. The Seminoles would have to defeat St. John’s twice this week in order to get the chance to face the Tide, but no matter who the opponent will be, the best-of-three series is going to start Friday and last through the weekend if it goes to three games.

In just three years at Alabama, Rob Vaughn has the program on the doorstep of where they have not been in almost 30 years, and with the way this team is playing right now, their chances of getting to the College World Series seem to be very strong.

Following what was a special weekend, it’s time for the Tide to turn the page and get ready for one which could be even more significant.
