7 Things: Video shows Uvalde cops let kids die, Alabama Democrats turning on their gubernatorial nominee and more …

7. Jill Biden gaffes like Joe and forces her staff to apologize for her

  • While speaking in San Antonio, Texas, first lady Jill Biden compared the Hispanic community to “breakfast tacos.” There has since been an apology issued on her behalf, but the first lady has not commented on the statement herself.

  • Jill stated that UnidosUS President Raul Yzaguirre “helped build this organization with the understanding that the diversity of this community, as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio, is your strength.” After her comments received backlash, press secretary Michael LaRosa stated, “The First Lady apologizes that her words conveyed anything but pure admiration and love for the Latino community.”

6. Palmer: Biden and his administration are ‘lawless’

  • U.S. Representative Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) recently commented on the way that President Joe Biden and his administration were conducting business, and described the whole thing as “lawless.”

  • Palmer went on to say, “It’s not just what Merrick Garland is doing…All over the country, you’ve got district attorneys that are not prosecuting criminals as the law requires.” He later added, “I think there is a segment of the population that’s sympathetic to a lot of the criminal element…there are people in elected office that despise this country. They despise our place in the world, they have a perverted view of our history.”

5. Red flag laws likely won’t pass in Alabama

  • Alabama Senate Majority Leader Clay Scofield (R-Guntersville) recently made it clear that the idea of red flag laws coming to Alabama was unlikely, and he’s certain that none would pass. State Representative Merika Coleman (D-Birmingham) had previously stated that she would likely introduce red flag legislation in the next session.

  • Scofield advised, “We have deliberated that in the past, and there wasn’t any appetite. Look, Illinois has red flag laws, and it did not work, which is what we pro-Second Amendment advocates have talked about for a long time.” He later added, “I’m not sure exactly what is being proposed in Alabama, what it looks like, or even if [Coleman] has a final draft of that, but anytime it impairs good citizens from being able to protect themselves, I think that’s a non-starter.”

4. Trump allegedly tried to contact a witness

  • It’s been alleged that former President Donald Trump has attempted to contact a witness for the U.S. House January 6 committee, according to U.S. Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.). Cheney declared, “We will take any effort to influence witness testimony very seriously.”

  • It has not been revealed which witness Trump tried to contact, but the witness didn’t accept Trump’s attempts to contact them and notified their lawyer of Trump’s action. The Department of Justice has already been notified of the alleged witness tampering. But an attempt to contact a witness isn’t witness tampering.

3. Teacher requirements in Alabama lowered, as more teachers are needed

  • Due to the ongoing teacher shortage in Alabama, the Alabama State Board of Education has altered the certification requirements for teachers in the state. All prospective teachers still have to pass the Praxis test, pass the edTPA assessment and have a previous GPA of at least 2.5 in the subject they’d teach, but there are now more options if a test can’t be passed.

  • If a teacher has a higher GPA in their subject, then they can be certified without a passing grade on testing, and professional development hours can also be used in place of a passing grade. The school board will also allow for some district superintendents to apply to waive lower test scores for potential teachers if they are in “extraordinary critical need.”

2. Alabama Democrats are turning on their own over abortion

  • Yolanda Rochelle Flowers is the Democratic gubernatorial candidate set to face Governor Kay Ivey on November 8, but Flowers has started receiving criticism from Democrats in the state due to her Christian and pro-life views.

  • Flowers stated that she had received requests for campaign donations to be returned after some found out she was pro-life. She went on to say that the Alabama Democratic Party has not contacted her, but she “would love guidance.” Flowers added, “I am new to this.”

1. Uvalde cops stood around and did nothing while kids were slaughtered

  • Heartbreaking, infuriating and unbelievable footage from the slaughter of 19 kids and two adults at Robb Elementary School in Ulvade, Texas, has been released. The video paints the cops on the scene that day as cowardly, incompetent, uncaring fools

  • Footage shows the crashing of the shooter’s truck, the gunman entering the school, a little boy witnessing the first shots inside and running away with screams from teachers and students following (which was edited). Included in their footage was cops running from the fight, checking their cell phones and even using hand sanitizer as they wait, arm up and witness the carnage before they finally enter the classroom 74+ minutes later.
