Yellowhammer News announced today that it will begin publishing essays from the scholars at the Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy at Troy University, along with featuring columns by nationally-known economist Walter Williams.

“Professor Walter Williams has done a remarkable job raising awareness of how free market economic policies can improve our lives, and many of the scholars at the Johnson Center attended George Mason University where Williams has taught since 1980,” said the site’s editor, J. Pepper Bryars. “We’re very proud to bring their insight to our readers.”

The Johnson Center was founded in 2010 to provide “a dynamic and rigorous education program focused on the moral imperatives of free markets and individual liberty, as well as relevant policy research on current and local issues.”

Dr. Daniel Sutter, the center’s interim executive director, will be the most regular of the center’s contributors to Yellowhammer News. His primary research interests include the societal impacts of extreme weather and climate change, ideological biases in the academy and news media, and the impacts of public policies and regulations.

The center recently held a discussion titled “The Untended Consequences of Regulation” where scholars, students and guests explored “the unforeseen side-effects of government regulation in areas such as ride-sharing, cellphones, entrepreneurship and the environment.”

Visit the center’s website to learn how you can support their efforts.
