Several weeks ago I was fortunate enough to be selected as one of a handful of American students to travel to Israel and participate in a once-in-a-lifetime educational, cultural and political experience. As this post goes up on YHP, I’ll be making my way from Birmingham to New York where our group will be flying out tonight.
During our 10-day trip, we will learn more about Israel’s challenges and achievements, and experience first-hand the dynamic contributions Israel is making to the world. I’m particularly excited about visiting many of the historic religious sites that I’ve been hearing about at church my whole life. We will also be meeting with Israeli government officials to hear their perspectives on leading their nation during this time of increasing uncertainty. I hope to at least play some small role in working with the next generation of leaders in the U.S. to strengthen our special relationship with Israel.
I’ve scheduled YHP to post an outline of our daily schedule each day while we’re gone. I will also post throughout the trip as time and internet access allows — so feel free to follow along.
Most importantly, please keep our group in your prayers.
Lastly, YHP will continue to have features and insider commentary on Alabama politics while I’m gone. I have put together several pieces in advance and I will also be checking email and staying in the loop as much as possible throughout the trip. As always, YHP will be your daily destination for the most unique and insightful coverage of Alabama politics.
Thanks for reading.
