WATCH: Troy Trojans pull off massive upset at James Madison on game-winning field goal

The Troy Trojans earned a massive victory on Thursday night in overtime on the road against one of the best teams in the Sun Belt – the James Madison Dukes.

It was a 27-yard game winner in overtime from Hayden Wolfe, getting revenge for the dominating defeat at the hands of the Dukes in last year’s conference championship game and potentially ending JMU’s run at another appearance in the College Football Playoff.

James Madison had won 11 straight games at home prior to Thursday night, which was the sixth longest in the country.

Using five turnovers through the evening to get the win, the Trojans had to come back from down 21-7 in the second half to be able to earn the victory.

“What a moment for our football team, for Troy, and for all the people back home. We’re still Troy; it just took us a half to get there. I’m just so happy for our staff, players, and for all of Trojan Nation,” head coach Gerad Parker said after the game.

Troy was having a rough season, entering this game with a record of 3-4. Now at 4-4 with some legitimate momentum, there is still time to get things turned around and salvage another solid campaign.

Sun Belt newcomer Louisiana Tech, who is having a strong year going into this weekend with a record of 5-2, comes to Troy next weekend looking to get another win, but the Trojans will look to keep the good times rolling with another upset victory.
