FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady on Saturday led his team to a thrilling 35-31 comeback victory over the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC divisional-round of the NFL playoffs. With the Patriots trailing late in the final quarter, Brady threaded the needle with a 23-yard pinpoint pass to receiver Brandon LaFell to put them up for good with 5:13 remaining in the game.

It was Tom Brady’s 46th career fourth-quarter, game-winning drive, but Alabama residents and fans of the Crimson Tide might have noticed something different about the final touchdown play.

“Alabama!” Brady could be heard screaming several seconds before the snap. “Alabama!” he yelled. “33 [Will Hill] is the Mike!”

Identifying the “Mike” linebacker is an important part of calling blocking schemes against a defense, but Brady’s “Alabama” call was likely identifying former University of Alabama standout C.J. Mosley, who was lined up in the “Will” linebacker position on the other side.

Other Ravens players in the game with Alabama connections included former UA standouts Terrence Cody and Courtney Upshaw, as well Troy University’s Brynden Trawick and Alabama high school graduates Darian Stewart and Lardarius Webb. The Patriots also had former Alabama star Dont’a Hightower and West Alabama cornerback Marcolm Butler. (h/t al.com)
