Neyland Stadium is one of the loudest venues in college football – and that was proven this past weekend.
During the victory over Alabama, the Volunteer faithful apparently set the highest scientifically verified decibel record in the third quarter ahead of a Crimson Tide third down at 130.3 dB, according to an announcement from the school.
NEW: Tennessee set the highest scientifically verified dB record in College Football history against Alabama on this play (130.3), the school announced.

On the play, Keelon Russell was sacked on second down, forcing a third and long where Tennessee got the stop right ahead of the marker. Alabama lined up to go for it on 4th and 1, but the crowd caused a false start penalty that backed them up five yards and forced yet another Tide punt on the afternoon.
Neyland Stadium has always been a loud and difficult place to play, but this past weekend where the Alabama offense was about as bad as it gets, the Tennessee crowd may have reached a new level – perhaps the loudest in the history of the sport, at least in terms of recorded data.
