MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Taya Kyle, whose husband Navy SEAL Chris Kyle’s autobiography was the basis for the recent movie American Sniper, will keynote the 2015 Jimmy Rane Charity Golf Tournament Banquet, Thursday May 14th in Montgomery.

Chris Kyle, commonly referred to as the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history, served four tours of duty in the Iraq War, was shot twice, survived four separate IED explosions and was awarded numerous commendations for acts of heroism and meritorious service in combat. Mrs. Kyle’s book, American Wife, is set to be published this May.

“I believe in paying it forward,” Taya Kyle said. “The ripple effect is a powerful thing. One small act of kindness can mean the world to someone. Jimmy Rane Foundation scholarships have created a very large ripple in the lives of 250 families, and I am pleased to be a part of this year’s event.”

The Jimmy Rane Foundation was founded in 2015 by entrepreneur and successful business owner Jimmy Rane, known to many as “The Yella Fella” thanks to his starring role as a straight-shooting cowboy in commercials touting his Yellawood pressure treated pine. In the annual charity event’s first decade and a half, the foundation has awarded more than 250 college scholarships to outstanding and deserving students, and hosted featured speakers such as Lone Survivor Marcus Luttrell, NFL legend Terry Bradshaw, Peyton Manning, and Hall of Fame Coach Don Shula.

The banquet recognizing this year’s scholarship recipients will be held at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel and Spa. The golf portion of the event will be played on Friday, May 15th at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Capitol Hill course in Prattville. To learn more, visit jimmyranefoundation.org.
