Shooting Occurs on Tuscaloosa Strip Following Homecoming

A shooting occurred outside of Rounders Bar on the University Boulevard strip in Tuscaloosa around 12:40 a.m. Sunday morning. Police found a 28-year-old black male who had suffered a gunshot wound to the lower back. Police were given the suspect’s vehicle description, and were able to stop it a few blocks away.

According to WBRC, two of the three occupants of the vehicle were identified as Kenneth Ray Ikner (37) and Tamarcus James Ikner (26). Investigators were able to determine that Kenneth Ikner and the victim had an ongoing dispute over a woman. According to witnesses, Tamarcus Ikner began an altercation with the victim before returning to the car, grabbing a gun, and shooting him.

The victim was treated at DCH hospital; however, his condition is unknown at this time. Kenneth Ikner is being charged with 1st degree assault, and Tamarcus Ikner with attempted murder. Both are being held on a $60,000 bond.

Rounders released a statement on Twitter regarding the incident:

Sadly there was a shooting on the Strip; however, it was completely unrelated to us and didn’t involved any of our customers. We’d like to thank the Tuscaloosa Police Department and Campus PD for quickly arriving on the scene and keeping everyone safe.”
