Expanding upon their business ventures in the Yellowhammer State, Nick and Terry Saban are backing an upscale hotel in the heart of Tuscaloosa.
The Alamite, a 112-room Tribute Portfolio boutique hotel set to open Friday, is a five-minute drive from Bryant-Denny Stadium. Tribute Portfolio is a Marriott brand.
In the center of Tuscaloosa’s commercial and retail district, the Saban-backed hotel features a French steakhouse as well as a rooftop bar and grill.
“The Alamite showcases the city’s heritage through an appreciation for its varied landscape, the stories of its residents, and its reputation as a center of industry and commerce,” the Marriott hotel’s website reads.

According to the Crimson Tide head coach, Tuscaloosa is set to reap great economic benefits from the hotel’s presence.
“Terry and I are excited to be a part of the ownership group for The Alamite,” said Saban. “Not only will this investment benefit our local economy, but it also represents a new standard for design and comfort in downtown Tuscaloosa.”
Design elements, according to the hotel’s website, “are sophisticated with an authentically local vibe with a nod to the past while looking to the future.”
Other business interests the Sabans hold include a four-unit condo across the river from the university, The Wall Street Journal reported in 2016. They are also investors in a Tuscaloosa residential subdivision. Additionally, the couple are co-owners of two Birmingham area Mercedes-Benz dealerships.
Terry Saban is also an owner and landlord of an apartment complex near campus.
