State Rep. Rhett Marques released a new 30-second campaign ad, “Alabama Values,” Tuesday presenting himself as the candidate President Donald Trump trusts to carry his agenda into Congress.
Marques’ campaign released the new 30-second spot on YouTube ahead of the August 11 Republican special primary for Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District.
“I’m Rhett Marques, the America First fighter President Trump trusts to get the job done, because the fight to save our country is far from over,” Marques says in the ad.
The Enterprise Republican uses the spot to highlight endorsements from Trump and U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) while pointing to his record in the Alabama Legislature.
“I cut $1.5 billion in taxes to lower costs for Alabama families,” Marques says.
Alabama House Republicans have said the Legislature enacted more than $1.5 billion in tax relief beginning in 2022. That total includes reducing the state sales tax on groceries, eliminating the state sales tax on diapers and baby supplies, and providing tax relief for retirees and working families.
Marques then lays out three priorities he says he would pursue alongside Trump and Britt in Washington.
“I’ll work alongside them to deport criminal illegals, ban DEI, and keep boys out of girls’ locker rooms,” he says.
Trump endorsed Marques in June, describing him as an “America First” conservative who would support the president’s agenda in Congress. Britt endorsed Marques earlier in the campaign and has emphasized his conservative record and ties to the Wiregrass.
The new ad continues Marques’ effort to consolidate Republican support behind his campaign as voters prepare for the special primary.
Marques is a longtime Enterprise small business owner and has represented Alabama House District 91 since 2018.
The winner of the Republican special primary will advance in the race for the newly redrawn 2nd Congressional District.
The special primary is August 11.
