Rep. Jerry Carl: House Republicans’ first 100 days

Tuesday marks 100 days of the new House Republican Majority. I’ve written before about
how we have hit the ground running, fulfilling our Commitment to America – this includes building an economy that’s strong, a nation that’s safe, a future that’s built on freedom, and a government that’s accountable to the American people.

I’m proud to report we have continued delivering on this commitment, and we have no plans of slowing down because there is so much to do.

During our first 100 days, House Republicans have reopened the Capitol to the American people, defended our nation’s energy security, protected the sanctity of life, defunded Biden’s proposed IRS army, worked to stop the Chinese Communist Party’s influence, and held the Biden administration accountable.

We’ve changed the House rules to create a more open and transparent House of Representatives, eliminated the military vaccine mandate, terminated the COVID-19 national emergency, stopped the selling of our Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to Communist China, passed H.R. 5 – the Parents’ Bill of Rights Act, and passed H.R. 1 – the Lower Energy Costs Act. These are just a few highlights of what we have already done.

So far, we’ve passed 59 bills and have sent five of them to President Biden’s desk for his signature. Even with a Democratic Senate and White House, we’ve been able to get a few of these signed into law.

We’ve held over 235 Congressional hearings – in fact, we had 42 in a single day, which is a modern record.

We’ve also had Biden administration officials testify over 235 times before Congress. I’ve had the opportunity to directly question numerous Biden officials, including Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Secretary of State Antony Blinken. By holding their feet to the fire, we are doing our part to ensure the government is working for you and our unelected officials are being held accountable for things they do as well as things they don’t do.

The differences between last Congress and this Congress could not be more different, and we are just getting started. Millions of Americans made it clear last November they did not like the direction the country was headed.

We listened to your concerns and have been hard at work these last 100 days delivering real results for you.
