Rep. Barry Moore: Democrats want noncitizens to vote

This week, House Republicans passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which would uphold and strengthen current law that permits only U.S. citizens to vote in Federal elections.

Days before this vote, President Biden said he would oppose the SAVE Act because “it would make it much harder for all eligible Americans to register to vote and increase the risk that eligible voters are purged from the rolls.”

This bill simply requires tangible proof of citizenship when registering to vote in Federal elections.

There is a slew of evidence suggesting noncitizens have been able to vote in our federal elections. A 2014 study that analyzed the 2008 and 2010 elections concluded that not only had noncitizens voted, they likely helped determine the outcome of some federal elections. Massachusetts, Ohio and Virginia recently purged their voting rolls and found that many noncitizens they purged had previously voted.

This is possible despite the fact that noncitizen voting is illegal because nearly every state allows folks to vote without presenting a full Social Security number or any documentary proof of citizenship. Even if states do require a full Social Security number, the Biden Administration has instituted policies that encourage illegal aliens to obtain Social Security numbers.

Since Biden took office, more than nine million illegal aliens have entered our country. If just one percent of them voted, it would be enough to make a difference in a federal election. So why would Biden and the Democrats oppose making it more difficult for noncitizens to vote?

The answer is simple – Democrats know most Americans don’t support their radical agenda.

Founding Father John Jay once said: “The Americans are the first people whom Heaven has favored with an opportunity of deliberating upon and choosing the forms of government under which they should live.” If we do not pass the SAVE Act, that opportunity could be taken away.

Secure elections are a key cornerstone for any representative government; without them, we won’t have a country. Democrats have complained for years now about supposed Russian election interference. The real foreign election interference is allowing foreigners to vote.

I will continue to fight to ensure that your right to vote in a free and fair election is upheld.
