The City of Rainsville has officially opened its new Public Safety Training Center, marking a major step forward in supporting the city’s emergency services. On Monday, Rainsville Fire Chief Willi Mac Wright led Mayor Roger Lingerfelt and members of the Rainsville City Council on a tour of the facility, which is designed to serve both the Rainsville Fire and Police Departments as well as other surrounding jurisdictions.
The facility will provide critical training opportunities that simulate real-life emergency situations. From live fire exercises to search and rescue drills and tactical law enforcement scenarios, the training center will enhance the readiness and coordination of first responders throughout the region.

Firefighting, in particular, requires extensive training that goes far beyond responding to fires. Firefighters must be physically strong, mentally prepared, and highly skilled. Their preparation includes rigorous physical training, live-fire simulations, emergency medical response instruction, and hazardous materials handling. Ongoing education is essential to stay current with advancements in equipment, procedures, and safety regulations.
The new training center is expected to improve both the efficiency and safety of emergency operations by allowing personnel to refine their techniques in a controlled environment. Officials say the facility will be made available for training use by multiple departments across northeast Alabama, promoting interagency collaboration and consistency in emergency response.
With this new investment, the City of Rainsville continues to demonstrate its commitment to public safety and its support for those who serve and protect the community every day.
