President Donald Trump announced Monday evening that he will deliver this year’s commencement address at the University of Alabama.

“I have agreed to do the Commencement Address at two really GREAT places, the University of Alabama and, WEST POINT,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “Stay tuned for times and dates!!!”

University of Alabama officials have not yet publicly confirmed the announcement or provided further details. The university’s spring commencement ceremonies are scheduled to take place May 2-4 at Coleman Coliseum, with more than 6,700 students expected to graduate.

If confirmed, Trump’s appearance would mark the first time a sitting or former U.S. president has delivered a commencement address at Alabama’s flagship university.

The event will also be Trump’s third high-profile visit to the University of Alabama. He attended the Alabama–LSU football game at Bryant-Denny Stadium in 2019 while serving as president and returned in September 2024 during his presidential campaign to watch Alabama face Georgia—both appearances drawing massive national media attention.

U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) issued praise for the “historic occasion” that would mark for the graduates and families of the University of Alabama.
