Montgomery Chamber’s incoming board to include Poarch Band of Creek Indians Tribal Chair Stephanie Bryan

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians on Monday announced that Tribal Chair and CEO Stephanie A. Bryan has been elected to serve on the board of directors for the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.

Bryan was named a Woman of Impact in 2018 by Yellowhammer News.

“I am thankful for this opportunity to serve the Montgomery area and join a distinguished group of other Board Members. The Tribe has a long history of promoting economic development in the River Region and I am excited to have a seat at the table of this important organization,” she said in a statement.

Wind Creek Hospitality, an authority of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, operates two River Region casinos: one in Montgomery and the other in Wetumpka.

Anna Buckalew, the chamber’s president and CEO, stated, “There is a new momentum and energy sweeping through Montgomery, and we are thrilled and honored to have Stephanie Bryan’s leadership around the table. The Poarch Band of Creek Indians is a catalyst for growth and progress throughout our entire state, and certainly a major community partner here in the River Region. As a director of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, Stephanie will be instrumental in the Chamber’s work to cast a dynamic vision for Alabama’s capital city.”

Bryan will serve on the 2021 board of directors, which will be led by the following officers:

John Yelverton, chairman
Cedric Campbell, chair-elect
Karen Hughes, vice chairman
