U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) believes that recent primary victories from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani-backed candidates reveal just how radicalized the Democratic Party has become in recent years.
Aber Kawas was one of the candidates who was endorsed by Mamdani who won the primary for New York State Senate this week. Kawas is a controversial figure who has come under fire for comments blaming the 9-11 terror attacks on America’s “system of capitalism, racism, white supremacy and islamophobia.”
Britt responded to the comments and her victory in the recent election.
“If you had told any American four years ago—let alone 25 years ago, in the immediate aftermath of 9/11—that someone like this would be supported by Democrats, or by any American, they wouldn’t have believed you,” Britt said. “Tuesday night, she won a Democrat primary in New York. The Democrat Party has become radicalized and dangerously far-left.”
President Donald Trump also expressed alarm over the wins during his speech at the Faith & Freedom Coalition conference Friday.
“These are not social democrats,” Trump said. “These are hardcore, godless communists. They’re godless communists. All communists are godless. They don’t believe in God. This is the most serious threat to our country since its existence. In my opinion, 250 years ago. This is a major threat to our country.”
