The Republican nominee for Alabama Secretary of State is criticizing the hypocrisy of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani when it comes to his opposition of voter ID laws.
Mamdani recently announced a plan to open five city-owned grocery stores, one in each borough, which will offer a 30% discount on essential staple foods. The mayor said you will need an ID to shop at the store if you want to buy in bulk. The city would have a “library card” type system so people can’t take advantage of the lower prices and buy in bulk only to resell the products and make a profit.
While the mayor supports some kind of ID for his stores, he has been openly against any type of voter ID.
Secretary of State candidate Caroleene Dobson said Socialists like Mamdani are just blatant hypocrites on this issue.
“Socialist New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani is requiring state IDs to prevent non-residents from illegally shopping in his government-run discount grocery stores, but he opposes requiring state IDs to prevent non-residents from illegally voting,” Dobson said on Facebook. “It’s bad enough that Mamdani is going to drive owners of mom-and-pop grocery stores and convenience stores out of business with his Communist scheme, but he and his fellow Socialist Democrats care more about collecting full price for a pack of Twinkies than they care about protecting the ballot box from illegal voting.”
Dobson has made election integrity an essential part of her campaign in the Yellowhammer State.
“Each day that goes by, it becomes more obvious that even Ernest T. Bass has more common sense than every Socialist Democrat and Mamdani supporter combined,” Dobson quipped.
