U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) is supporting President Donald Trump’s latest efforts against the Iranian regime.

Trump ordered more strikes against Iran this week in retaliation of a surprise ballistic-missile attack on American forces.

“The strikes are a powerful response to yesterday’s attempted Iranian attack on U.S. forces based in the Middle East,” U.S. Central Command said.

Britt was asked on Fox News’ “Special Report” if Alabamians are experiencing “battle fatigue” over the war in Iran.

“Look, obviously, we want to see resolution there,” Britt responded. “It is my opinion that this was 47 years too late in taking action. I appreciate President Trump holding Iran accountable. He clearly wants resolution to this. Obviously, was willing to enter into the MOU. It was Iran that chose to walk away from that, and President Trump has said we’re not going to we’re not going to let that happen. We’re going to hold you accountable.”

The senator emphasized that she wants to see peace in the region, but that it’s up to the Iranians to help make that a reality.

“They have had a murderous regime for 47 years that has enacted terror on Americans and our allies abroad,” she said. “That must come to an end. So I think that we have made significant strides in diminishing their capabilities. I appreciate President Trump’s leadership on that, and ultimately we want to make sure that there is a peaceful resolution to that-that’s what President Trump wants. But ultimately, that decision is Iran’s.”
