Huntsville brewery announces limited-edition beer inspired by Governor Bentley

unimpeachable pale ale

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Governor Bentley is being commemorated by a new limited-edition brew from the Salty Nut Brewery in Huntsville.

The drink, called “Unimpeachable Pale Ale,” is inspired by recent events in Alabama politics…specifically Governor Bentley’s signing of the “growler law,” which allows breweries that make less than 60,000 barrels per year sell up to 288 ounces per customer per day for off-premise consumption, deliver up to two donated kegs of its beer to a licensed charity event, and no longer requires brewpubs to open only in historic buildings, historic districts or economically distressed areas.

“We were so excited that Alabama’s leadership was willing to support this legislation, that we just had to commemorate the moment with something just as sweet,” Salty Nut co-owner Jay Kissell said in a press release.

The ale also makes light of Governor Bentley’s ongoing scandal with one-time staffer and potential mistress, Rebekah Mason. The promotional artwork (seen at the top of this story) “is intended to evoke the loving care that we have put into each ounce of our latest brew,” but also referencing the audio of Bentley telling Mason how much he loves standing behind her and touching her breasts.

The ale’s iconic image can also be purchased on t-shirts, posters, and stickers that are already available on www.UnimpeachablePaleAle.com.

“When naming and branding a beer, we try to come up with names and imagery that are memorable and descriptive of the beer, and feel that Unimpeachable Pale Ale is both,” said Kissell.

“The name of our brewery is Salty Nut Brewery – clearly we don’t take ourselves too seriously. But we are serious about making good beer,” he added.

The ale is made with fresh peaches and Idaho 7 hops that compliment the peaches with an aroma of melon and apricot. The beverage will be available for on-premise consumption in mid-May and to-go when the state’s growler law takes effect on June 1.

While the new drink’s name and imagery are entertaining and eye-catching, Salty Nut hopes it can use this attention to focus on the good that the new growler law can have.

“We believe the new law will have a positive impact on small businesses, economic development, and Alabama’s blossoming craft brewing industry,” said Brent Cole, President and Head Brewer at Salty Nut.

Kissell did add that Unimpeachable Pale Ale is so good you’ll have to lock the door when drinking it.

“It is scary how delicious it is. You’ll worry about loving it so much, baby,” he said.
