How much does each Alabama worker pay in federal taxes to fund Planned Parenthood?

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — After the shocking revelation Tuesday that taxpayer-funded group Planned Parenthood has been selling the body parts of aborted babies, many Americans have become outraged that such a company receives hundreds of millions of dollars from the Federal Government.

In fact, 45 percent of the company’s overall revenue comes from federal taxpayer funded health-service grants. That’s $541 million that goes toward funding the subsidization of abortions and abortifacient pills.

Alabama has a population of roughly 4.8 million people, with about 2 million of them employed according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Those workers combined to give close to $24 billion in taxes to the Federal Government last year to add to the heap of $3.7 trillion that Washington raked in from across the country.

After calculating Alabama’s contribution to the federal revenue stream, we were able to see how much the state and each worker in the state is paying to fund Planned Parenthood.

While per person, this might not seem like an outrageous number, Tuesday’s revelations call into question the morality, and legality, of even one cent of taxpayer money going to the organization.
