On Monday, the Mobile Chamber announced a development project for a Frito-Lay distribution center at 3221 Anton Street in Prichard.
The project, which broke ground in June 2024, is approximately 25,000 square feet and it represents a significant investment in the community, the Mobile Chamber reports. Once complete, the facility will serve as the direct-store-delivery hub for the greater Mobile area.
“This development underscores the economic vitality of our region and the strategic advantages we offer for logistics and distribution operations. We are excited about the job opportunities and economic growth this will bring,” said Mobile Chamber President and CEO Bradley Byrne,
Frito-Lay North America is a division of PepsiCo, Inc. and operates 30+ manufacturing facilities and more than 200 distribution centers across the United States and Canada. Frito-Lay services 315,000 retail customers a week through its direct-store-delivery model.
Jimmy Gardner, Mayor of Prichard, added, “As we celebrate this exciting new chapter, we look forward to the positive impact this facility will have on our residents and businesses. Together, we will continue to foster a vibrant community where everyone can thrive. Thank you, Frito-Lay, for choosing Prichard as your new home,” said Prichard Mayor Jimmie Gardner.
“This new Frito-Lay distribution center represents a significant capital investment within the City of Prichard and adds to Mobile County’s rapidly growing logistics infrastructure. This $8 million capital outlay represents construction and other jobs. Frito-Lay’s distribution center should ignite additional investment and stimulate the local economy,” said Mobile County Commissioner Merceria Ludgood.
The facility is expected to be fully operational by June 2025.
