Former Alabama star Will Anderson becomes NFL’s highest-paid non-quarterback ever

Former Alabama Crimson Tide superstar pass rusher Will Anderson has just landed a massive contract extension with the Houston Texans which makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the history of the NFL.

Anderson and the Texans agreed to a three-year deal worth $150 million, which included more than $130 million of guaranteed money as well as a no-trade clause. The clause means Anderson has the power to veto any deal Houston tries to make to ship him out of town.

Anderson is coming off the best season of his career and was nominated for the league’s Defensive Player of the Year award after racking up 12 sacks.

In three seasons in the NFL, he has already collected 30 sacks and helped Houston establish one of the best defenses in football led by former fellow Crimson Tider in head coach DeMeco Ryans.

Two of the most dominant defenders to ever come through Tuscaloosa are now carving up NFL offenses as well, and Anderson just got paid to reflect that.

In three years at Alabama, Anderson collected 34.5 sacks and twice won the Bronko Nagurski Award as the most outstanding defensive player in the nation before being selected by the Texans with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
