A Democrat who was unable to be elected as Governor of Georgia is coming to the Yellowhammer State to help former U.S. Senator Doug Jones (D-Mountain Brook) become Governor of Alabama.

Stacey Abrams, former House Minority Leader in the Georgia Legislature, will be joining Jones at a campaign rally in Huntsville Sunday, October 11th.

“Doug Jones is bringing the campaign to Huntsville on October 11 for a free, public rally featuring national voting rights leader, best-selling author, and former Georgia House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams,” Jones’ website said.

Abrams is known for claiming that her gubernatorial elections were stolen from her in 2018 and 2022 due to voter suppression and other systemic problems.

“My larger point is, look, I won because we transformed the electorate, we turned out people who had never voted, we outmatched every Democrat in Georgia history,” Abrams said in 2109. “But voter suppression is endemic, and it’s having a corrosive effect. If we do not resolve this problem, it will harm us all.”

Jones’ website said the rally will  “give Huntsville residents a chance to hear directly from Jones and Abrams about the future of Alabama and hear about the issues that matter most to their families and communities.”

The rally will take place at at the Von Braun Civic Center’s Mars Music Hall from 3-5pm CT.

Jones is facing off against Republican nominee U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) in the general election this November.
