With the Third Saturday in October arriving this week, folks are very excited to see the annual spectacle that is the Alabama Crimson Tide taking on the Tennessee Volunteers with victory cigars on the line – specifically two celebrities.
Count Alabama native and country music superstar Riley Green and Tennessee Volunteers legend and NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning in the group of folks who cannot wait to see the two teams on the field. In a very unlikely duo, the two paired up for a song release about the game and its history.
Fans even get to hear the singing voice of Manning, who makes some hilarious claims, including the Volunteers being primed to “take it all this year.”
The pair debates music in the state of Tennessee vs. the iconic Muscle Shoals, and Manning talks Jack Daniels while Green counters with the Flora-Bama, to which the pair hysterically agree they have both been thrown out of.
Ultimately, the message of the song is bringing folks together as part of a great Southern tradition – despite potentially being on the opposite sides of a hated rivalry – which is something this world could benefit a whole lot more from.
Green and Manning talk some friendly trash throughout the song, but they still get along and watch the game together with a friendly ‘Good Luck’ and a cheers. Chances are, there will be a lot of folks this weekend doing the same thing, even if they are rooting for opposite teams.
