In a press release on Monday, the College Republican Federation of Alabama (CRFA) urged voters to support life and vote “yes” on Amendment Two on Tuesday’s statewide general election ballot.
The release explained, “The sanctity of life is something that the state of Alabama values, and the College Republican Federation of Alabama urges Alabama voters to stand with the unborn on November 6th. Alabamians overwhelmingly oppose abortion and seek to preserve life, and this amendment reaffirms that commitment to the sanctity of life.”
CRFA’s political director and Troy University College Republicans chapter chair, Ashlan Kelley, voiced her personal support for the pro-life constitutional amendment, which has come under fire from Planned Parenthood and Democratic gubernatorial nominee Walt Maddox.
Kelley said, “We strive to keep the sanctity of life a priority in this state. We do not down play or ignore the rights of the unborn. It is of the utmost importance that as a state we continue being a voice for those unborn children that can’t speak for themselves. I am voting YES for Amendment Two on Nov. 6th. I urge Alabamians to keep protecting the rights of the unborn. Every life matters at every stage. Vote YES on Amendment Two Alabama. Children are a gift from God, not a mistake.”
“Despite liberals and PACs from across the country actively working to stop this amendment, we believe that the conservatives of this state recognize this unique opportunity to act against the inhumane act that is abortion. We join the Alabama Republican Party, the Alabama Policy Institute, the Alliance for a Pro-Life Alabama, numerous state senators and representatives, and a variety of other groups in endorsing this amendment,” the CRFA released outlined.
It concluded, “The College Republican Federation of Alabama urges the people of Alabama to show the nation why our state is great: our values. On November 6th, side with life, stand for the unborn, and vote YES on Amendment Two, Alabama.”
