Auburn will officially become a Nike school next summer

Beginning July 2025, Auburn University will partner with Nike as the exclusive apparel provider for all its athletic programs. The long-awaited move will bring Auburn’s 18-year partnership with Under Armour to a close.

Fans, former players, and boosters have been clamoring for the move for years. According to Auburn University Athletic Director John Cohen, the school is signing a ten-year deal with the apparel giant.

“We are excited to enter this new partnership with Nike, a brand that consistently champions athletes and sport around the world. We are appreciative of their strong support throughout this process. We believe that our 10-year agreement, beginning in July 2025, will continue to elevate Auburn and best serve our student-athletes and our university moving forward,” Cohen said in a statement.

Cohen also thanked Under Armour for everything the company has done for Auburn over the course of a long relationship.

“We are also grateful to Kevin Plank and Under Armour for their 18 years of valued partnership in growing the Auburn brand and serving our student athletes, coaches, and fans. We look forward to the opportunity to celebrate this relationship throughout the final year ahead.”

Cohen announced the deal in a video released to his social media platforms featuring him receiving texts from some of the most famous alumnus of the school asking if they have made the switch yet and returns the message with a check mack, a nod to the classic Nike swoosh:

According to Clint Richardson, a large part of Auburn’s 2015 extension with Under Armour included stock options, which were trading at $54 per share at the time but have since at times dropped to as low as less than $7 per share.

The contract value with Nike is not yet known.
