The Auburn Tigers are the champions of the most competitive conference in college basketball.
During what has been an absolutely historic year within the SEC on the hardwood, Auburn comes out on top with a regular season title after destroying Kentucky on the road 94-78 for their first win in Rupp Arena in decades.

The Tigers, now 15-1 in the conference with still two games remaining, locked up the championship after Alabama’s loss to Tennessee dropped the Tide to 12-4 in the conference, three games behind Auburn with not enough time left to catch up.
For Auburn, it was Miles Kelly leading the way in scoring with a 30-point effort along with 22 from Chad Baker-Mazara and 21 from Tahaad Pettiford.

The Tigers played before Alabama, and the Tide could have kept things alive with a win in Knoxville – a place where they have historically struggled. After having the game virtually locked up leading by four points with 30 seconds to go, Alabama was the victim of a miraculous buzzer beater for the Volunteers which not only shattered their hearts, but handed Auburn the title.
The guys were hype when they saw that buzzer beater 🔥💍👀

Alabama and Auburn will still face off one more time in Neville Arena next Saturday, but the stakes now have changed. Instead of a ring on the line, the two teams will play for bragging rights, one trying to sweep and the other trying to avoid it. In the last game of the regular season as well, it will be one last opportunity to get better ahead of the start of what sets up to be an epic both SEC and NCAA Tournament.
