An Alabaster man just won the lottery, literally.
According to a story from WSFA News, the winner — who chose to remain anonymous — bought a $30 Millionaire Maker scratch-off ticket at Keith’s Superstore #89 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi and nabbed a $1 million prize.
He told WSFA that purchasing lottery tickets has become a regular part of his routine when he is driving through the state of Mississippi.
He is keeping a promise he made with family members to split the profits of the winnings.
The game debuted in the state in January and now has officially landed one millionaire with eight top prizes remaining.
While efforts over the last couple of years have proved promising for residents of the Yellowhammer State to get a legalized lottery and sports wagering, clearly, there is a long way to go.
Hopefully Alabama seeing its own resident win big in a neighboring state sends a message to lawmakers that the state’s missing out.
