Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi confirmed Tuesday that one of its aircraft was involved in a “mishap” in west Alabama around noon.
The incident involved a T-38 Talon II, a supersonic jet trainer aircraft used by the U.S. Air Force.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Two pilots safely ejected from the aircraft before impact, according to the base.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and Lamar County Sheriff’s Department said emergency crews responded to the crash site shortly after the aircraft went down.
“The cause of the mishap is currently unknown and will be investigated by a Safety Investigation Board,” according to officials.
Footage shared online appears to show the pilots ejecting moments before the aircraft crashed.
