The No. 17-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide baseball program capped off its non-conference slate on Tuesday night with a thrilling victory over in-state rival UAB by a score of 6-3.
Entering the top of the ninth in Birmingham, the game was tied up 3-3. It didn’t last long, however, as the Tide blasted two home runs. The first was a solo shot to center from Jason Torres followed by Kade Snell, who provided some insurance later in the inning with another two-run blast to give Alabama the three-run lead:

After the game, Alabama head coach Rob Vaughn spoke about how much it meant to the state to see a heated battle between the two storied programs.
“What a great game for the state of Alabama,” Vaughn said. “Two really good teams competing on a great night in Birmingham. I was really proud of the grit and toughness we showed tonight. We were great offensively and just couldn’t cash in with guys in scoring position, but we got it done late…I’m proud of our guys and the toughness they showed tonight.”
Alabama kicks off its gauntlet of an SEC schedule this weekend in College Station for a three-game set with the No. 19 ranked Texas A&M Aggies.
“I’m excited to head to Aggieland to start SEC play,” Vaughn said.
With the win, Alabama improved to an impressive non-conference record of 17-1.
