Alabama woman tells police she ‘lost’ her car, fisherman finds it underwater

After inserting his boat into the water at the Oliver Lock and Dam in Tuscaloosa, Alabama Monday morning, Keith Adcox happened upon a red Volkswagen Beetle fully submerged underwater with its airbag deployed.

According to “Madison and Shepherd” from 95.3 the Bear in Tuscaloosa, Adcox said he couldn’t tell what it was at first, but after “poking it with a stick” and determining that it was metal, he notified the Northport Police Department. To his surprise, they already had a pretty good idea what it was.

The Northport Police Department told Adcox they had received a phone call from a woman the night before saying that she had simply “lost” her car and had no idea where it might be.

Lee Averette of Dwayne’s Towing & Recovery went down to the Oliver Lock and Dam this morning to retrieve the vehicle.

“Caught me a big fish this morning,” he boasted on his Facebook wall, along with photos of the vehicle.

So how do you think the Beetle ended up in the water? What do you think about the woman’s claim that she’d just “lost” it somehow and couldn’t find it? Let us know in the comment section below.
