Alabama Secretary of State reminds voters of April 16 primary runoff elections

Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen is reminding Alabamians to register to vote before the upcoming April 16 primary runoff elections.

“As Secretary of State, I want to encourage all eligible Alabama citizens to register to vote and to exercise this constitutional right,” said Allen. “I am proud to know that the Primary Election was administered with election integrity and security as the top priority, and I look forward to ensuring that the April 16th election is fair, secure, and transparent.”

Electronic voter registration may be completed by visiting https://www.sos.alabama.gov/alabama-votes/voter/register-to-vote. A paper voter registration form may be delivered in person or by mail to your local Board of Registrars.

The last day to register to vote is April 1.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day. Voters are required to present a valid form of photo identification to vote at their polling place or by absentee ballot.

Under state law, if a voter casts a ballot in the primary election and wants to vote in the primary runoff election, he or she must vote in the runoff election of the same party they chose in the primary election. If a voter did not participate in the primary election or voted only a constitutional amendment ballot, they may still vote in the primary runoff election for either party.
