Last year, it was announced that Major League Baseball would be hosting a game at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham in the MLB’s ‘Field of Dreams’ game as a tribute to Willie Mays and the Negro Leagues.
Now, the league has announced that fans who hope to attend the matchup between the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants on June 20 will have the opportunity to enter a lottery for tickets.
Tickets will be exclusive to Alabama residents and determined by local zip codes.
The league has also partnered up with the City of Birmingham to give away around a quarter of the limited 8,300 seats to community or youth-based organizations in Birmingham.
There will also be a minor league game which will feature both Montgomery and Birmingham two days before on June 18 in which the teams will go by the original Negro League names, the Montgomery Gray Sox and the Birmingham Black Barons, two of the first teams to ever play at Rickwood.
General public ticket sales for the minor league game on Wednesday, April 24 while fans for the major league game can visit MLB.com for a chance to purchase tickets.
