The Alabama Crimson Tide has landed another big time quarterback recruit, something head coach Kalen DeBoer has made a habit of doing during his three recruiting cycles so far in charge of the program.

DeBoer secured a commitment from the top quarterback in the nation for the high school class of 2027 in Baton Rouge native Elijah Haven, who according to 247’s rankings is the No. 2 overall player in his class regardless of position.

Haven is coming off a massive junior season at the Dunham School, being named Gatorade and MaxPreps Player of the Year in Louisiana after leading his team to its first state title in more than two decades with a season in which he set state records in touchdown passes with 62 and total touchdowns with 73.

Throwing for nearly 4,000 yards, Haven was absolutely spectacular as he gets set for his senior season before arriving to Tuscaloosa roughly a year from now.

He joins a quarterback pipeline that DeBoer has developed at Alabama as the third five-star signal caller he has landed since taking the job while no other program in college football has more than one.

Keelon Russell — who could wind up being the starter this season — was one of the highest rated players in the country, while the class of 2027 has been busy as well.

DeBoer has Jett Thomalla arriving onto campus this fall as a five-star out of Nebraska as Haven joins Birmingham native and Thompson Warriors star QB Trent Seaborn in next year’s crop of talent.

Needless to say, only one guy can play at a time, but DeBoer has clearly placed on emphasis on getting a ton of talent in the quarterback room and letting the best man win out.

After two years of playing Nick Saban carryover players at the position, the Alabama head coach will get a chance in year three to run his offense with a guy he scouted and recruited.

Time will tell how it pans out.
