Alabama Forestry Association endorses State Sen. Clyde Chambliss’ reelection campaign

The Alabama Forestry Association (AFA) on Friday announced its endorsement of State Sen. Clyde Chambliss (R-Prattville) in his bid for reelection to the Alabama State Senate, District 30.

Chambliss graduated in 1992 from the University of Alabama with a degree in civil engineering. In 1996, he was elected to his first of three terms on the Autauga County Commission, where he served as chairman from 2000 to 2008.

According to AFA, Chambliss played an integral role in the county’s participation in the development of the Capitol Hill Robert Trent Jones Golf Course.

Presently, the senator is the principal engineer for Chambliss Engineering, a firm which provides engineering services to local governments, developers and water systems primarily in Elmore and Autauga Counties.

AFA president and CEO Chris Isaacson praised Chambliss for his years of public service.

“Clyde’s experience as a businessman, engineer and public servant give him unique insight into the needs of our state,” stated Isaacson. “His voting record is proof that he is committed to making Alabama a better place to live and work by his continued support of fiscally responsible legislation. We are pleased to stand with him in his bid for reelection.”

Chambliss is currently chairman of the Senate Confirmations Committee and serves on the Senate Finance and Taxation General Fund Committee.

AFA touted the senator’s efforts in his sponsorship and passage of what the organization called a “fiscally responsible budgeting mechanism” for the general fund’s state agency appropriation. The organization asserted that his work had led to the state’s budget being placed on a solid funding foundation, which it said resulted in no proration for education spending since 2010.

“I really appreciate the continued support from the Alabama Forestry Association,” said Chambliss. “Forest products are a large part of the Alabama economy and I appreciate working with AFA to ensure continued success in these ever changing economic times.”

Senate District 30 encompasses all or parts of Autauga, Chilton, Coosa, Elmore and Tallapoosa Counties. The primary election will take place on May 24, 2022.
