It pays to be a former player for the Alabama Crimson Tide, as this offseason in the National Football League has clearly shown.
In a post on Alabama Football’s official social media accounts, the program announced that former players have signed contracts totaling over $1 billion throughout this year’s offseason.

Some of the headline deals include Tua Tagovailoa, who signed a four-year, $212.4 million contract with the Miami Dolphins. His teammate and one of his favorite targets—both in Miami and at Alabama—Jaylen Waddle, also secured a three-year, $84.75 million deal.
Heisman trophy winner DeVonta Smith was given a 3-year, $75 million extension with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Also receiving a huge deal was fellow wide receiver Calvin Ridley, signing a four-year, $92 million deal with the Tennessee Titans as well as defensive lineman Christian Barmore who got a four-year, $83 million from the New England Patriots.

The latest headline contract from a former Tide star came for cornerback Patrick Surtain, who has become one of the best in the NFL at his position with Denver. As a result, the Broncos gave him a four-year, $96 million extension to keep him there for the long haul.
Seeing all of these stars excel and get compensated as a result at the next level is one of the big reasons why the Alabama brand has become as large as it is over the years. New head coach Kalen DeBoer will surely use these numbers as a recruiting tool just as his predecessor did for so many years.
