The first wave of betting odds for the 2024 college football season have been released, and Vegas is optimistic about Alabama’s chances.
The Crimson Tide will open the season with home games against Western Kentucky and South Florida, both of which are expected to contend in their respective conferences, but neither of which are projected to give Alabama much trouble. According to the Action Network, UA opens as a 31-point favorite over WKU with a 99.01% chance to win, and a 34.5-point favorite over USF with a 99.17% chance to win.
The team’s first major test of the Kalen DeBoer era will come in Week 3, when they travel to Madison to take on the Wisconsin Badgers in Camp Randall Stadium, recently ranked as the seventh-hardest place to play in college football by EA Sports CFB 25. While the matchup is intimidating on paper, current Vegas odds lean heavily in favor of Alabama, with the Crimson Tide favored by more than 9.5 points with a 77.78% chance to win.
Overall, Vegas gives Alabama a chance of over 75% to enter Week 4 undefeated.
