The No. 12 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide are off to an absolutely incredible start this season on the baseball diamond.
After finishing their non-conference slate with a record of 18-1, Alabama went on the road for their first SEC series of the season and swept the Texas A&M Aggies in three games.
Sweeping the Aggies – a team that played in the championship series of the College World Series last season – was no small feat, but the Tide took another step on Thursday night that was even more impressive.
While everyone’s focus was on basketball, Alabama quietly defeated the No.1 ranked, defending national champions, the Tennessee Volunteers, by a score of 6-5.

Trailing 3-2 early in the bottom half of the second inning, Justin Lebron smashed a base-clearing double to left field to clear the bases and give Alabama a 5-2 lead they would hold onto the rest of the night.

Later in the sixth inning with the Tide up 6-3, right fielder Bryce Fowler made an incredible play to rob Tennessee of a home run. The play proved to be pivotal after the Volunteers started to mount a comeback.

Alabama will have two more games against the Volunteers on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Just one more win would lock up a series victory over the best team in the country and establish the Tide as real contenders this season.
