Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Southern rock legends whose hit “Sweet Home Alabama” immediately became the Yellowhammer State’s unofficial anthem, had the “the most-requested song in the history of rock music” with “Free Bird,” but they probably never heard it performed quite like this.
Louisville, Kentucky-based Linkin’ Bridge is a quartet who first came to fame by performing a beautiful rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” on the popular television show America’s Got Talent.
This week they were back determined to wow the judges again, and they pulled it off by taking a unique angle on Skynyrd’s classic hit.
One of the members said “Free Bird” has inspired them to keep pushing through tough times.
“We tried for years to make it. Never happened. Sometimes you want to give up. You just can’t. It’s the drive inside of you makes you want to keep going,” Montre Davis told a local TV station.
