7 Things: Tuberville spells out Harris’ VP quandary and Democrats’ Jewish problem; Alabama schools start new year with new policies; and more …

7. Not a single Democrat, Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden included, has talked about a male, intersex, or transgender athlete being able to beat down a female athlete at the Olympics or paralyze a high school volleyball player. Former President Donald Trump’s campaign was not as shy, “President Trump has been unequivocally clear that he will NOT stand for men competing in women’s sports – an insane and unfair reality that has been allowed to transpire because of Radical Left politicians like Kamala Harris. When he returns to the White House, President Trump will take immediate action to protect women and girls and overturn the Harris-Biden Administration’s radical rewrite of Title IX.” Biden’s rewrite of Title IX was recently blocked in Alabama and 25 other states.

6. Birmingham parents could get paid if their kids go to school; Birmingham’s “Every Day Counts” $16,000 program awards $300 towards rent for families in public housing whose children have perfect school attendance, hoping to improve attendance rates. The initiative attempts to address high absenteeism and its root causes, such as financial instability, and aims to keep children engaged in education and out of trouble, but $300 is not going to do it, and very few children, if any, will qualify.

5. Independent presidential candidate and potential spoiler Robert F. Kennedy Jr. secured enough signatures to appear on the ballot in 17 more states, including Alabama, for a total of 42 states. With ballot access in states representing 480 electoral votes, they aim to unite the country with their “unity ticket,” but the likelihood of securing a single electoral vote is very slim.

4. The n-word was spoken by one of the owners at Nick’s in the Sticks. Jack Moltz admitted to using the slur to refer to black customers after initially lying and denying the accusation, “I made a statement to a white customer of the restaurant referring to African American customers who were present as the N-word.” In his apology, Moltz acknowledged the harm caused, expressed regret to the affected individuals, and offered to personally apologize to those present during the incident.

3. The U.S. and Russia completed a historic prisoner swap, exchanging 24 individuals, including journalists and political dissidents. Russia released 4 Americans, among them Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and corporate security executive Paul Whelan, while the U.S. and its allies freed eight Russians, including convicted murderer Vadim Krasikov. Despite this exchange, tensions between the two nations remain high, especially with ongoing issues surrounding Ukraine.

2. Alabama schools are improving their policies to create safer and smarter environments. Sparkman High School in Madison County clarified false reports regarding Crocs. General dress code rules include no hats, sunglasses, bonnets, bandanas, tights as pants, or pants with holes above the knee. In Bessemer City, flip-flops and slippers are banned, and clear backpacks are required. Baldwin County elementary schools will follow a dress code emphasizing safety and modesty, and other schools are adding vape detectors and banning cell phones.

1. As Israel is bumping off baddies at a fevered pace, Vice President Kamala Harris gets ready to pick her own vice presidential pick, with many observers thinking Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro is the obvious pick but many have suggested his Jewish faith is a negative in the process, and Alabama U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) is highlighting the Democrat’s Hamas problem. Tuberville lambasted Democrats for their weakness on Israel and against terrorism, saying, “This is why Kamala couldn’t bring herself to show up to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s congressional address last week. It’s because Hamas has become a key constituency for the Democratic Party. Just last week, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi stood by while pro-Hamas protesters destroyed property two blocks from my office in the Capitol. Democrats are more concerned with appeasing our enemies than supporting our friends and allies.”
