7 Things: Rep. Ed Henry arrested, Walt Maddox comes out swinging wildly, leaker arrested in D.C., and more

1. State Representative Ed Henry is arrested for Medicare fraud

— Henry was indicted and charged with 6 14 counts including planning to defraud Medicare and pay kickbacks to a physician in Montgomery.

— He was arrested, charged, released, and he has released this statement saying he did nothing illegal.

2. Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox is coming out swinging in the general election

— His complaints seem a bit odd, saying we don’t have the people to fill all the jobs coming in with “recruited Mercedes, Airbus, Austal, Honda, Hyundai, you name the defense industry” while also complaining about the incentives that brought them in.

— He also promises to expand Medicaid and a lottery, so that’s the same Democrat plan from 2010 and 2014.

3. Senate Intel panel employee is indicted for leaking to the press and lying about it, arrested staffer was sleeping with a reporter

— Another leak in Washington D.C. has been uncovered by a vote by the Senate Intelligence Committee to disclose information to the DOJ about a staffer who allegedly made an unauthorized disclosure of information.

— All the investigations into the Trump-Russia issue have been leaking information to the press in order to damage the president of the United States, no leaks of actual proof of collusion have occurred.

4. Rudy Giuliani is the worst attorney in America, Trump should fire him

— Giuliani’s first mess was implying the North Korean leader begged Trump to reschedule their summit on his “hands and knees“.

— As Giuliani was insulting Stormy Daniels he told a crowd Melania Trump didn’t believe her, Trump says she never talked to Giuliani about this, and a spokesperson said “I don’t believe Mrs. Trump has ever discussed her thoughts on anything with Mr. Giuliani.”

5. Lots of people were excited that a drug dealer was released from prison (not me), but none more than her

— Alabama’s Alice Marie Johnson told the AP, “I’d like to say, President Trump, thank you for having mercy upon me. Thank you for taking the time to look at my case, and feel like I deserve a second chance in life. I promise I will not let you down,”

— While she has a job lined up, she said she will continue to push for prison reform.

6. Colin Kaepernick wants to subpoena Trump, Birmingham’s mayor wants Kaepernick

— Kaepernick and his legal team want subpoenas to determine what Trump, Pence and others said to NFL owners about Kaepernick and protests during the national anthem.

— Mayor Randall Woodfin is trying to recruit Kaepernick to Birmingham to play in an unnamed Alliance of American Football team, citing the city’s history of racism.

7. The DOJ has decided it will not defend laws it does not like; liberals are upset because they forget that Obama did it first

— The Justice Department has announced it will not defend the Affordable Care Act in court anymore because it believes the law’s individual mandate has become unconstitutional, even though it was upheld in 2012.

— This is the exact same thing that the Obama administration decided to do with the law banning gay marriage, this is what happens when you forget you aren’t going to be president forever.
