7. A Democrat candidate for Jefferson County District Judge Chuantae Brown accepted a $150,000 that she could not identify the source of but now claims the funds have not cleared. When questioned about it by Yellowhammer News, Brown said it was “a legit company” and she wanted to keep the contributor “anonymous,” which is illegal.
6. Unable to read the room and the decimation of the latest comprehensive gambling bill full of protectionism for illegal gamblers and an expansion of casino gaming, The Alabama Retired State Employees Association and Alabama Public Employees Advocacy League have now asked its members to support the measure. Unfortunately for the ARSEA/APEAL, HB151 and HB152 are now all but dead as a comprehensive package.
5. A young woman frantically texted her family that she was being held hostage in Birmingham and was finally found dead in the city. A search for her started at 7:46 a.m. Sunday when Mahogany Jackson texted her family that she was being held hostage. The Jackson family and the police sought to track her down throughout the day and into Monday but one has to wonder if Carlee Russell had not burned the community would this story have received more attention?
4. As if the Laken Riley’s death was not infuriating enough we are learning of more crimes committed by other illegal immigrants, including the alleged murderer’s brother. Meanwhile, Birmingham TV station ABC 3340 dared to ask the following poll question, “Should a person who entered the US illegally, and then commits a crime, be deported?” with 92% of the respondents saying “Yes.”
3. After rampant illegal immigration over the last 3-plus years, recent high-profile deaths at the hands of illegal immigrants, and (most importantly) low poll numbers, President Joe Biden is now prepared to amble his way down to the southern border, as former President Donald Trump is doing the same in a previously planned trip. Needless to say, the Border Patrol is not thrilled with Biden’s visit, with their union releasing a statement slamming all of this saying that this is “too little, too late” after “repeatedly stating there is no crisis.”
2. Some Alabama fertility clinics are still needlessly closed after a more than week-long campaign to suggest that Alabama law bans in vitro fertility clinics, even though the super-majority Republican leadership, Gov. Kay Ivey, Attorney General Steve Marshall, and other lawmakers all explained otherwise and asked the clinics to reopen. Alabama Democrats are attempting to help resolve this issue but seem confused as to how to do so. Some believe a simple bill will fix the problem, while others want a constitutional amendment where they can make this about abortion. Now, Biden administration officials come to the state to make things worse.
1. A bomb was detonated outside of Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall’s Montgomery office at a time when the state was under the disingenuous scrutiny of the local and national media. The media rules revolving “bomb threats” and “@LibsOfTikTok” do not apply here, for some reason, because that would mean blaming the local and national media for their baseless smearing of Alabama as a whole as causing the bombing.
