7. Kids can’t read, and because of a new law that will go into place this year, 22% of third-graders will be held back … good. More than 11,000 second-graders will be at risk in the next year, other states have tried this but passed kids anyway. Alabama has already delayed this policy once.
6. Yet another government entity is spending tax dollars to push LGBTQ and transgender issues on the youth, this time the Shelby County Library. Their board votes the displays are NOT age-inappropriate. Government employees continue this stuff at their own peril and will soon invite government intervention.
5. The Houston County registrar has been removed by Secretary of State Wes Allen for a number of violations. Allen alleges a bevy of broken rules and laws by Dorothy Robbins, including letting felons vote, registering voters at addresses they don’t live at, registering people without signatures, and processing late voter registration forms.
4. Three individuals, including two lawmakers, were involved in a kickback scheme that stole $196,000 from the state and from a non-profit run by one of the legislators. State Rep. Fred Plump (D-Birmingham) has already been charged and resigned his seat, but State Rep. John Rogers (D-Birmingham) has already admitted he is the “Legislator #1” listed in charging documents as potentially receiving a cut of the money stolen, but he is unfazed.
3. To the glee of the media, President Donald Trump appears to see his support softening a little bit with some softness detected in his favorability polling amongst Republicans, dropping 10 points (77 to 67), and his lead shrinking by 6 points to only 21 points. To summarize, Trump now leads the Republican field by a ton as opposed to a buttload (which is more than a ton, obviously).
2. While the final court battle is far from over, A three-judge federal district court gave the Alabama Legislature until July 21 to redraw Alabama’s 7 congressional districts or the three-judge panel will do it themselves. Gov. Kay Ivey has to call it, and it is expected to be done in July.
1. It’s not every day that a father looks at his crackhead son’s plea deal on tax, drug, and gun charges, and says, “I am very proud of my son”, but President Joe Biden did just that yesterday. Hunter Biden’s sweetheartdeal is now drawing a lot of attention from Republicans who feel that this is an attempt to immunize lil’ Biden and his dad from further scrutiny over their alleged influence peddling. Media on full defense of Biden is basically in celebration mode over the deal.
