7 Things: Biden’s Afghanistan response continues to be an embarrassment, Brooks says no more refugees need to be brought to U.S., booster shots for all Americans and more …

7. Inmates released in Mobile

  • Coronavirus cases have continued to rise in Mobile, and some inmates from Mobile Metro Jail have been released under the use of “hurricane protocol.”
  • Sheriff Sam Cochran said that the only people released were those facing nonviolent misdemeanor charges. Prison and jail releases have happened throughout the pandemic when certain facilities have seen a large increase in coronavirus cases.

6. Democrats wasting money on silly billboards ahead of Trump rally

  • Billboards with “Welcome to Alabama, Liar” and “Welcome to Alabama, Loser” will be put up in Cullman County this weekend as Alabama Democrats seek to send a message outside of the planned “Save America Rally” with former President Donald Trump.
  • Alabama Democratic Party executive director Wade Perry claims they object to holding the rally during a pandemic. He stated, “We think it’s probably going to be the biggest super-spreader event in Alabama in a long time and really ill-advised,” but Democrats have regularly approved of outdoor protests, rallies and riots during this pandemic. The billboard further exposes a massive problem with Alabama Democrats and their leadership because they are completely reactive and pick fights that play well with the media, social media users and those outside the state while doing little to move the needle with actual voters.

5. Gadsden poultry plant proposal terminated

  • It’s been announced that after a lengthy process with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), there will not be a new poultry plant built near the Northeast Alabama Regional Airport. The main concern from the public over the new poultry plant is that it would attract wildlife to the airport.
  • U.S. Representative Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) announced the termination of the proposal, saying that a “letter from the FAA makes it clear that such a facility, which they believe would attract wildlife, would not be a good choice to locate on airport property.” Aderholt emphasized that he supports economic development, but explained it should be supported by the public.

4. CDC: Everyone needs a booster shot

  • As expected, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has officially recommended that all Americans who are already vaccinated get their booster shot as early as eight months after their second dose.
  • The booster shots could begin the week of September 20. There still has not been an official recommendation for those who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to get an additional shot, but it’s anticipated that will come as more data is collected.

3. Brooks says we should not bring all Afghan refugees here

  • As the Taliban has taken over Afghanistan, there’s been a lack of answers provided on where Afghan refugees that were evacuated already will be sent, but U.S. Representative Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) has stood firm that there shouldn’t be extended visas issued to these refugees. Brooks said, “We cannot import all of the people who should be staying in their home country fighting for freedom.” The congressman argued that evacuating these people only empowers the Taliban, and added that “in 1776, our leaders did not flee when the issue was liberty and freedom, we fought and we won.”
  • The media and their Democrats (and some Republicans) seem to believe that we can absorb as many refugees that want to come to the United States. In fact, Maryland, South Carolina, Utah, Iowa, Vermont, Georgia, Massachusetts, California, Virginia, Wisconsin and more are seeking out the refugees to be brought to their state while Americans are still stranded in Afghanistan with the Taliban between themselves and the airport in Kabul.

2. Biden canceled a plan that could’ve avoided another Benghazi-type situation

  • The “Contingency and Crisis Response Bureau” was set up during President Donald Trump’s term to assist with many issues U.S. citizens could run into overseas, but especially to avoid a repeat of what happened in Benghazi when President Barack Obama was in office.  Candidate for U.S. Senate Katie Britt said leaving behind American civilians and refugees is a failure. She called it “un-American.”
  • Just a few months ago, the Bureau was paused by order of the State Department. Now, there are thousands of Americans trapped in Afghanistan with no sure way out and no promise from the White House that everyone will be evacuated.

1. The United States just had bad intelligence, I guess

  • President Joe Biden and others within his administration have refused to take any responsibility or even acknowledge their own shortcomings in the withdrawal from Afghanistan that led to the Taliban being able to take over. Yesterday, Biden refused questions at a press conference and appeared in a combative interview with a former Clinton press secretary where he said the withdrawal could not have been handled better and dismissed the deaths of those who fell from an airplane trying to escape Kabul.
  • Recently, there was an intelligence leak that showed the White House and Pentagon had been informed that the country could fall quickly and that shows the White House has been dishonest. Despite this leak, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley said that the timeline for the collapse was a wide estimate. He advised, “There was nothing that I or anyone else saw that indicated a collapse of this army and this government in 11 days.”
