7 Things: AL lawmakers slam Biden on Afghanistan; former part-time Sen. Jones mad about TN politics and more …

7. Rough weather means a really low turnout for Auburn’s spring football game, not sure a game with UAB or Troy would have saved this one. The paid attendance was 16,000, but if you believe that, you believe Wrestlemania III has 93,000-plus in the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit.

6. The battle over economic incentives will continue in the Legislature this week and it appears that battle will not be over whether or not to do them but, instead, how big to go.

5. Shouldn’t come as any surprise to the people who live in Alabama, but the population is growing in more counties than previous years and the low cost of living is probably helping.

4. Recent news of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ relationship and trips with billionaire Harlon Crow have led the media and their Democrats to call for everything from his impeachment to packing the court in response. These same people are suggesting the government ignore court rulings, too.

3. Former U.S. Sen. Doug Jones (D-Mountain Brook) has been very vocal about the issues affecting Tennessee lately. The less-than-one-term senator believes it is “bullshit” and sent a late-night tweet thread comparing his political enemies to Klansmen.

2. After a mass shooter attacked a Nashville Christian school and killed 6 people, the Biden administration used that moment to promote the shooters’ message and did not visit the state. Now the President and VP are jumping over themselves to let it be known that they support the “Tennessee 3,” who attempted to start a riot in the state Legislature and were expelled for it, including sending VP Kamala Harris there.

1. The Biden administration’s victory lap on Afghanistan did not sit well with Alabama lawmakers. U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) called the review, “an insult.” U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks) said, “President Biden cannot rewrite history to avoid accountability for his own actions.” And U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) hit the administration for not taking responsibility for the issues they created, “anyone who wouldn’t call the situation they were handed ‘chaotic’ is kidding themselves. The Biden admin’s decisions created the chaos.”
