You won’t believe the last time Alabama was a home underdog

The Alabama Crimson Tide is getting ready to host the Georgia Bulldogs, and as has been the case throughout the offseason, the ‘Dawgs are going to be the Vegas favored team when they step foot in Tuscaloosa this weekend.

Georgia opened up this week as a 2.5 point favorite, which does not seem like much, but it is monumental in the area of spread movement throughout the Alabama dynasty. The Tide has not been underdogs at all in a regular season game since 2015, ironically, also to Georgia in Athens. It was a matchup that the Tide would go on the road and win 38-10 before eventually rolling to another national title.

But Alabama being an underdog at home is even more unlikely over the better part of the last two decades. The Tide has not been the underdog in Bryant-Denny Stadium since Nick Saban’s first season in 2007 against LSU, a game Alabama lost 41-34.

In an absolutely mind-blowing statistic, it just so happens that the last time this was the case is also the same year that star freshman 17-year old sensation Ryan Williams was born. If you didn’t feel old already: Congratulations! You do now.
