Montgomery government relations firm Windom, Galliher & Associates has added veteran Alabama lobbyist Derek Trotter as a partner while promoting longtime lobbyists Ragan Ingram and Cooper Trent to partner.
Founder Steve Windom announced the changes Friday, describing the moves as part of the firm’s long-term planning.
“I love waking up each morning and going to work, and I plan on continuing doing it for a long time,” Windom said. “But it’s also a good time to take stock of what we’ve built and take a long-range view of the future.”
“Adding Derek, Ragan, and Cooper as partners helps ensure the continued success of Windom Galliher,” he added.
Trotter has spent roughly two decades working in and around Alabama state government. He previously served as chief of staff to former Alabama Senate Presidents Pro Tem Del Marsh and Greg Reed, overseeing Senate operations and legislative strategy through several regular and special sessions.
He also previously worked as a legislative liaison and legislative director in former Gov. Robert Bentley’s administration and later in private-sector government relations.
“I’ve been impressed with Derek for years,” Windom said. “He has the work ethic, political smarts, and personality that we want in our firm.”
Ingram joined Windom Galliher in 2013 after a career that included journalism, political campaigns, service in the lieutenant governor’s office and 10 years at the Alabama Department of Insurance.
Trent joined the firm full time in 2021 after previously working with it on an adjunct basis. An attorney, his work has included economic development, tax credits, incentives and legislation.
Windom founded the Montgomery-based firm in 2003 after serving as Alabama lieutenant governor. Former state Rep. Blaine Galliher joined as a partner in 2014. The firm provides governmental relations services across sectors including health care, insurance, utilities, education and technology.
